5 Tips to Make Your Rental Property Tenant-Ready

Maintaining a home is no easy feat. Every day, there’s another task to add to the never-ending list, and it can be hard to keep up. Before you know it, your home has gone from neat and tidy to cluttered and outdated. If this sounds familiar, don’t worry – you’re not alone! Many homeowners struggle with trying to stay on top of home maintenance. But don’t worry; we’ve got four tips that will help make the process a little bit easier for you.

Create a maintenance schedule:

One of the best ways to keep on top of home maintenance is to create a schedule. Whether weekly, monthly or even yearly, having a set schedule will help ensure you don’t forget any critical tasks. Include big and small tasks on your schedule to avoid letting anything slip through the cracks.

Creating a maintenance schedule can be daunting, but plenty of resources are available to help get you started. Once you have your schedule created, be sure to stick to it as best as you can. Of course, life happens, and there will be times when things come up that throw off your schedule. But if you can stick to it, for the most part, you’ll be on your way to keeping up with home maintenance.

Don’t try to do everything yourself:

Homeownership is a lot of work, but that doesn’t mean you have to do everything yourself. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the maintenance tasks, consider hiring a professional to help out. From lawn care to to a Roofer for leaks, plenty of services can take some of the burdens off of your shoulders. Of course, hiring help can come at a cost. But if it means you can keep up with home maintenance, it may be worth it in the long run. Not to mention, it can give you much-needed free time to enjoy your home rather than constantly being bogged down by chores.

Stay on top of small tasks:

It’s easy to let small tasks fall by the wayside, but unfortunately, they can quickly turn into big problems. For example, if you let a small leak in your roof go unaddressed, it could become a much bigger and more expensive issue down the road. The same goes for things like clogged gutters and cracked sidewalks. By staying on top of small tasks, you can avoid larger issues from popping up down the road. In addition to being proactive about maintenance, it’s also important to be reactive when something goes wrong. If you have a problem that needs to be fixed, don’t wait! The sooner you address the issue, the better off you’ll be.

Be preventative:

One of the best ways to keep your home in tip-top shape is to be preventative. This means taking care of things before they break or become an issue. For example, regularly checking the caulking around your tub and sink and reapplying when necessary. Or make sure you don’t wait until your gutters overflow with leaves before cleaning them out. A little bit of regular maintenance can go a long way in preventing big problems down the road.

Keeping up with home maintenance can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Following these four tips can make the process much easier and less stressful. And at the end of the day, your home will thank you.
