For some reason, we spend five days a week at work and two days a week relaxing, but even in those two days a week, we spend our time going from appointment to appointment and getting a house admin in order. Your weekends are your most precious time of the week because unless you really enjoy your job, it’s the only time that you can spend with your family doing things that don’t relate to the office.
You want to be able to make the most of them, and whether you are looking to head out with your friends or what’s up with that out on the couch with the kids, there are plenty of ways to have fun at the weekend. Take a look at our tent suggestions below to make this weekend the best one yet.
Have a plan in place.
Decide during the week exactly what it is you want to do during the weekend. Write down everything and note that your plans are booked well in advance. If you want to learn more about getting a new drone to take with you on your weekend adventures, put that on the list and make it part of your plan. When you have plans, you can look forward to the time you spend outside of work. It’s equally as good not to have a fixed plan, but it’s just not the same.
Set yourself a brand-new challenge.
It can be easy to fall into a routine just to make the board. Setting yourself a new challenge – such as hiking up the hill, learning how to scuba-dive, buying a new camera and then he has to make it work – all of these things can really make your weekend a wonderful time. There’s nothing better than pushing yourself to a new challenge every weekend because then you can focus on points for yourself and see how well you’re progressing outside work. Personal development is just as important as professional development.
Get outdoors.
Taking yourself out of the house and enjoying nature is a big deal. The weather may not always be on your side, but if you’re prepared for the elements, you will be ready to go and enjoy yourself. Simply go outside and walk, run or hike – getting outside is super essential for your weekend because it’s likely that you don’t get much of it during the week.
Do something with somebody that you love.
Whether going to a restaurant and enjoying a delicious dinner or setting up a romantic picnic in the lounge, you can enjoy your weekend knowing that you’ve got some dedicated time with somebody you love the most. You should never push yourself to go out and socialize and get drunk if you don’t want to – weekends aren’t just for falling out of clubs, not anymore.
Indulge yourself in some self-care.
Booking a small weekend away or even a massage at the local beauty salon will give you a big boost in your personal life. Rushing around and feeling all of your time with activities it’s fun, but the whole point of the weekend is to relax. Taking that time to indulge in self-care can make a big difference to your mental health and mental state come Monday morning. You’ll be able to tackle the week feeling happier and much more relaxed if you go and get a massage, get your hair done, or simply get a pedicure.
Catch up with your friends.
Making a plan for lunch with your friends or even a brunch on Sunday morning will pick up your weekend. Do you want to have fun, so instead of just going for brunch, head to an escape room and do something fun with them afterward? That social element that takes you away from the people you see all the time at work and gets you out with the people you love the most will impact mental health positively.
Say no to some jobs.
There is nothing wrong with turning down some DIY. Yes, the weekend is designed for you to get things done for your house, but you don’t have to re-plumb the bathroom or repaint the walls if you don’t want to. Saying no to some household work can make you feel more empowered and give you back your time for the other fun things we listed on this list.
Get out of your routine.
Instead of just going home and lounging around this weekend, why not book yourself a mini break? Go on a city break to Europe and see something extraordinary, or head to your local state and go and see something new, including a show animal. Sometimes, getting out of your comfort zone can give you the shakedown that you need to improve your prospects in the future.
Indulging in a hobby.
We talked about looking into drones earlier, and you can indulge in a brand-new hobby when you get out your camera or invest in some good technology. Getting a new hobby helps you fulfill some of the other things you want to do on the weekend, giving you something to look forward to at the end of a long working week. Your hobby can be anything from photography to cheesemaking, you just have to find the thing that works for you.
Join in with a sport.
Whether you join a soccer group or you head out for a trial with an American football team, you’ll be able to join us at any time you want, and you can use your time at the weekend to get fit. It’s one of the best ways to burn off some frustration that you might have felt from the working week, and it can help you push your body and mind when you know that you have something to look forward to.
