Hi friends! As we get settled into the month of November and look ahead to the holidays, it’s definitely a busy time of year. It’s filled with lots of events, celebrations and opportunities to connect with friends and family we might not have seen in some time.
A few weeks back, I posted a question box on Instagram asking if there were any specific events you might need an outfit for. Many of the responses were Thanksgiving, engagement parties and baby showers to name a few. So today, I’m showcasing fall dress options for all occasions.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, I also have a blog post featuring 15 outfits to wear to Thanksgiving from casual to more elevated HERE.
Fall Dress Options for All Occasions
Fall Dress Options for a Wine Tasting Party
You all must either love wine or it’s a thing to have wine tasting this time of year because I received multiple requests for dresses to wear to a wine party. Depending on where the wine party is held will probably determine what type of dress you wear. So I included a roundup of both casual and a little more elevated dress options.
Faux leather is still very much an on-trend material to wear throughout the fall and winter. And we’re seeing it a lot more in dresses. This hunter green faux leather dress features a twist-front detail with a high neckline. If your wine party is with co-workers, this would be appropriate to wear because it’s a good length with a modest neckline. You could layer a blazer over the top, and finish the look with a wool hat for the ultimate wine-country look (even if you’re not in wine country). 😉
For a more casual atmosphere, this maxi length dress (although I think it might be more of a midi length on some) is also a fun fall dress option to wear to a wine tasting party. This rich chocolate brown is one color I can’t get enough of lately. It features beautiful eyelet details on the two flutter sleeves and hemline. The open back is a fun and flirty addition to this beautiful dress. Pair this with knee-high boots for a fun night out with your friends.

Fall Dress Options for a Warm-Weather Thanksgiving
These next fall dress options are for the special holiday occasion we have coming up next – Thanksgiving! Lots of requests for what to wear to this holiday. And many of you requested dresses that would be appropriate and comfortable in slightly warmer weather. With that in mind, you might consider wearing dresses that are more mini length or have a lighter material like a cotton. I rounded up a few dresses below that you can take a peak at. And if you’re headed somewhere where it’s not so warm, you could layer on a few pieces to make these dresses work as well, like a blazer or cardigan!
This mock neck mini sweater dress features a lightweight sweater fabric that has a beautiful print that looks exactly like something you’d wear in the fall time. It does come in three other colors and in varying lengths: petite, regular and tall. You could pair this dress with booties, knee-high boots or even suede mules.
Another dress option to wear to a warm-weather Thanksgiving is this long-sleeve embroidered mini dress. It features gorgeous ruffle sleeves with a lace trim and a sweetheart neckline. It’s a perfect option for someone who has a more feminine style and will keep you cool and comfortable throughout the day.

Fall Dress Options for an Engagement Party
The next event many of you are attending this fall is an engagement party. Whether your family member or friend is headed for the aisle, I rounded up some beautiful dresses to wear to the party. For an engagement party, cocktail attire is usually best.
For a trendy fall dress option, a satin blazer mini dress is perfect for this occasion. This mini dress features a classic lapel collar and side zipper closure. With this dress, pair black suede pumps if the engagement party is held somewhere more upscale. Complete the look with simple earrings and a chic low bun.
An engagement party can also oftentimes be held at someone’s home. If that’s the case, then a more casual sweater dress like this one is a great option. This is a midi length dress with a square neckline and puff sleeve details. The dress also features an open back with a tie detail at the back of the neck. This dress comes in black too.

Fall Dress Options for a Black-Tie Optional Wedding
Fall is a busy time of year for weddings. It used to be the summer was the “it” season to get married. However, with the milder weather and the beauty of the leaves changing, I think many people started opting for the fall. If you’re headed to a black-tie optional wedding that means many women will probably be wearing floor- length dresses. And if they aren’t floor length, the dresses are definitely more upscale than a cocktail dress. I rounded up some of my favorites right now below!
This floor length velvet dress by Jenny Yoo is stunning, and it features a plunging v-neck in the front and back of the dress. Velvet is a beautiful fabric to incorporate in your looks throughout the fall and winter. Aside from the fabric, this dress is also the perfect color for the fall in cinnamon rose. It does come in three other color options and in sizes 0 to 26.
If you’d rather wear a shorter dress, this cascade ruffle strapless dress is another great fall dress option. Because this dress features many elevated design features like a cascading ruffle and angular neckline, it looks and feels more formal. The dress also has tiny buttons on the back with a hidden zipper closure. You can also get this dress in black and royal blue to wear to a wedding.

Fall Dress Options for a Baby Shower
If you’re planning to head to a baby shower this fall, I’ve got you covered. Typically, baby showers are held in the afternoons, which calls for a more casual dress. I rounded up a few of my favorites below that feature everything from ruffles to sweet floral prints.
Petal and Pup is one of my favorite retailers to find beautiful dresses at more affordable price points. Most all of their dresses (and the rest of their clothing) are under $100. This long sleeve bodycon midi dress features a beautiful blue floral pattern with a ruffle hemline. The dress also comes in three other floral pattern colors and in sizes XS to XL.
Another dress that is perfect to wear to a baby shower is this super-sculpt ruffle neck mini sweater dress by J.Crew. It has ribbing throughout with a ruffle hemline and neckline. This dress also comes in black and can be paired with bootie or knee-high boots.

This season can be very busy with all of the events happening around the holidays. I think it’s important to remember that we don’t have to attend every event we’re invited too. Don’t let the stress of trying to be at everything take away the joy of the season. Only commit to the things that matter most to you and that bring you happiness. And for the events that you are attending, I hope this post helps you find the perfect dress to make you feel and look your best. Talk soon! xo.
